Work blouse/jacket by Yoko Sakamoto in black max high count hemp with moderately dropped shoulder line, patched front pocket and inside pocket.
Woven at a mill in the Bishu region, this original material is a plain weave made from medium-fine hemp yarn, pushed to its absolute limit of high density for both warp and weft. Post-weaving, a Nidom process is applied, intentionally shrinking the fabric to develop a unique undulating surface. During this treatment, the fabric's surface is gently rubbed, softening its natural nap and resulting in a remarkably smooth, almost brushed hand. Though densely woven and initially as firm as sailcloth, the Nidom process imparts a distinctive, aged texture, reminiscent of well-loved antique textiles.
